Crowne Plaza London Heathrow – Family Room Review

Crowne Plaza London Heathrow – Family Room Review

As we approached the hotel we had booked for the night before our big trip, we were full of excitement and nervousness! We were ready to start our long journey to New Zealand. This trip had been months in the planning and we couldn’t believe it was finally here.

We are not usually ones to gamble but when we booked our hotel and airport parking through Holiday Extras we chose to book the mystery option. You don’t actually find out where you’ll be parking or where you’ll be staying until you have paid. We gambled and it paid off as we were allocated the Crowne Plaza London Heathrow for one night and parking for three weeks at the hotel.

Admittedly the hotel looks quite dated from the outside but when you enter the foyer you are soon welcomed with a modern, clean and sophisticated hotel.

Check in was easy and straight forward. They advised us where to park the car for the duration of our holiday. As we were a relatively long stay park, we were asked to park at the rear of the hotel. It felt really secure though and is monitored by CCTV.

Off to the 3rd floor we went to find our room. There are 465 rooms in total with a variety of different rooms choices, there is something to meet almost everyones needs.

Our Room

We booked a family room which is large enough to sleep 4. On entering we couldn’t believe the sheer size of the room. There was so much space! Plenty big enough for 4 adults or a family, bags and the kitchen sink.

Two huge queen beds are the focal point. I can report that we all sleep very well. L loved having a big old bed all to himself.

If you have read our hotel reviews previously you will know that I’m a sucker for a nice bathroom. The Crowne Plaza Heathrow certainly fulfilled the brief! Lovely and modern, white fluffy toilets and complimentary toiletries.

Also included in the room was a large warbrode area, desk, large flat screen tv plus excellent tea and coffee making facilities. There was also a fridge which is really handy particularly with a child who has special dietary needs and who brings his own milk everywhere.

We were really pleased with the room. It was a great start to an amazing journey!

The Hotel

We were surprised by the facilities on offer at the hotel. WiFi is free and available through out the hotel. There are four restaurants and bars to choose from, whether it’s a quiet tipple or a three course meal you are after you’ll find it at the Crowne Plaza Heathrow.

There is also an indoor swimming pool and fully equipped fitness centre. Open from 6.30am to 10.00pm every day. If your a runner you’ll be thrilled with the RUN station in the lobby. Free water, towels and route planners are available.

The Transport and Parking

Parking is available onsite for £16 per day. We booked ours through the Holiday Extras website. You can catch the Hoppa bus right outside the hotel to the different Heathrow Terminals. We also booked tickets for the Hoppa bus online. From the Crowne Plaza Heathrow to Terminal 2 the journey takes 15 or so minutes.

The Verdict

We couldn’t have been happier with our stay at the Crowne Plaza Heathrow. It really does feel like an above average airport hotel. The family rooms are huge, comfortable and clean. Our car was safe and the airport is an easy transfer away. We would definitely stay again!
