Westminster Kitchen Grill House – London

Westminster Kitchen Grill House – London

During our recent visit to London we spent a day taking in the sights and sounds of the South Bank area. We had booked to visit Shreks Adventure so we headed in early and enjoyed the gorgeous sunshine!

It was super busy being Easter Saturday so after weaving our way over Westminster bridge and back and checking out the London Eye our tummies wanted food. We we’re intitally worried we wouldn’t find anywhere quickly but tucked away just behind City Hall is the Westminster Kitchen Grill House.

The restaurant was super busy but we managed to get a table. The restaurant opened last July and serves British classics such as sausages and mash as well as steaks, salads and burgers. The decor is quite modern but has a distinctive rustic chic finish (if that makes any sense at all!)

We were served quickly and our drinks were brought swiftly to the table. G and L ordered Cumberland sausages and mash whilst I pretended to be healthy and ordered a grilled chicken salad. We ordered from the express menu.

Our meals arrived very quickly. My salad looked amazing! Lots of interesting bits such as mixed lettuce, parmesan, pomegranate seeds, grilled peppers, red onion, cucumber and sooo much chicken!

L and G pretty much had an identical meals of Cumberland sausages, mash and gravy. The only difference was one sausage. L ordered from the children’s menu and G from the standard menu. The price difference was £8!! So for an extra £8 you got one additional sausage!

We all really enjoyed our meals, the salad actually beat me in the end. I think G felt a bit ripped off about his sausages and mash, although he did help polish off L’s.

We were in and out of the restaurant within 45 minutes. By the time we left the queue for a table for pretty much out of the door.

Since eating at the Westminster Kitchen Grill House I have read some fairly poor reviews online so I wanted to share our thoughts. Firstly the staff were very friendly, secondly prices we thought we quite reasonable with mains starting from around the £11 mark. Although in saying that charging an extra £8 for an adult sausages and mash meal when in actually fact you only get one more sausage, in my mind doesn’t leave an great impression. The other criticism I have was the toilets, they were so unbelievably small and claustrophobic! G went to the men’s and said they were the exactly same. We did however enjoy our meals.

Our verdict is that we would probably give the Westminster Kitchen Grill House another go if we were in the area.
